Coastal Loving, the start of something beaut-i-ful

We are super lucky to live in Cornwall! Living in such a beautiful place on the North Coast there are lots of inspiration surrounding us.  From the crystal clear waters to the sea pinks on the cliff tops, Cornwall is a place where you can forget your troubles for a day or two!

Olive May was created in 2016 after many discussions and ideas we wanted to create something simple, unique and it had to reflect the beauty of the ocean.

In a way our story is a little bit deeper than some....

In 2011 I was left paralysed from the shoulders down after an accident. Although at times life can be tough I have many positive things to look forward to and a huge support from my friends & family! I've always been a very determined person and have never given up and eventually one day I will walk again. My life has now become some sort of fight to get my old life back and even though I've come across many struggles and barriers, there has always been a way to carry on dreaming and aspiring for a happy me. I've been on many adventures in my life but my latest takes me to Miami in January for potentially life changing research which may help to improve/bring back my arm and hand movement. Carla wanted to help raise money for my trip so she suggested making jewellery and that's how it all began!

Carla (the creative wanderer) has been crafting since her travels in Nimbin, New South Wales. Making hair and dread wraps and creating travel inspired jewellery called Bohemian Wrapsody! Carla is the hands behind the necklaces, hand making each necklace, painstakingly drilling tiny holes through sea glass, shells and semi-precious stones that make our lovely jewels!

Whereas me on the other hand, I guess I'm better with designing and sourcing our materials! My whole life I've lived 5 minutes from the beach and that's how I roll, the simple life of salty air= salty hair! I've always wanted to re-ignite my creativity somehow and Carla has allowed me to do that!

The idea of someone wearing our necklaces around their neck, carrying a bit of the ocean and being handmade here in Cornwall is exciting for us as each necklace is one of a kind. We hope you love them as much as we do.
